Weather or Not?

Want to know the weather for Playa Escondida, Sayulita and the Riviera Nayarit? Don't rely on the weather report for Puerto Vallarta. Every day from now until the end of October you'll see the same forecast...Thunderstorms! Puerto Vallarta is nestled between the Banderas Bay and a rugged mountainous peninsula. In the summer these mountains are fed a steady stream of warm, moist air from the inter-tropical convergence zone to the south. By mid-afternoon the mountain storms are sliding down their north side and frequently drench Vallarta with torrential downpours.

We are in a different climate zone in Sayulita. Open ocean, rolling hills and gradual ascent to the coastal Sierra Madre mountain range here contrast with the topography of Puerto Vallarta. As a result our summer typically has sunny days with occasional evening thunderstorms. As you all know, security is a big issue nowadays in travel planning and, in particular, travel to Mexico has been a concern for many of you. We hope you, as guests with first hand knowledge, will share your experience, how you felt starting from the moment you arrived at the Puerto Vallarta airport, in order to give others who are considering a visit to Playa Escondida a better idea of what to expect and how it may contrast with what the media in general has depicted.

I suppose that's the nature of living in a vacation paradise, that one lets work slip out of one's mind as if it were a dream and reality is enjoying the beauty of nature and the company of wonderful guests...Well, here we are back at the blog, trying to revive what many may have thought was a forgotten relic of another life.
Annie has convinced me that there are important things that need to be related to our growing community of friends and that I should wake up and get to work.

We don't invite the general public, except through our website. It acts as a filter to discourage those who are better suited to conventional or all-inclusive resorts. We realize we are not for everyone. We believe that those who are "meant" to be part of this experience will find us on their own or through a network of friends which will link them to those who already appreciate our unique experience.

The beginning- finding Playa Escondida

More than 15 years ago Playa Escondida was for us a perfect hideaway: secluded, private beach, difficult to find, off-the-beaten-path from an off-the-beaten-path fishing village called Sayulita, which a handful of surfers had discovered and didn’t want to publicize. After several years of enjoying solitude and disconnection from the madness of the “civilized” world the inevitable happened and Sayulita lost its anonymity, bringing madness closer by.

Nevertheless, Playa Escondida has attempted to preserve its privacy. It is still unlikely that someone in town can tell you how to get here. There are no signs pointing the way. Indeed, as in zen enlightenment or true love, you’re not even sure you’ve found us until you’ve actually arrived.
